4th gen 1996 SS Chevrolet Camaro 6spd manual For Sale.

96 SS, stroked and bored to 396ci and supercharged to 11psi, 6-speed manual, 62,000 miles, asking price is $REMOVED.

My original SS, 396, supercharged to 11psi is up for sale. Someone is going to get a lot of fast car for not much money. You really couldn’t do better if you want simple, dependable, powerful, solid, and driveable. Man. A bland and cheap little four door box with 70,000 miles will cost about $11,000.

Needless to say, I’m losing a ton at this price. An engine alone to make this kind of power will cost as much as the whole car–more really–and here you are getting something fully built. New Spec stage 3+ clutch and pressure plate inside a McCleod steel bellhousing, 6 speed hardened by 6 Speeds Inc (the trans alone was, oh, about $2,000), 1000hp rated driveshaft, Eaton 12 bolt positraction with best of everything treatment inside KTRE axle housing with the beefy axles and bearings that it holds, and Kenny Bell subframe connectors to stiffen the frame. Nothing in the drivetrain will break or even be near its limit. The engine won’t break either with custom Ross pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, 4-bolt mains, and Callie’s crank, internally balanced. And the two Walbro fuel pumps with big injectors will keep it from ever going lean. If you know this motor, you know that’s the best stuff you can buy.

I have an SSI box from innovate motorsports with wideband O2 and display meter, and fuel pressure gauge, so you can plug in the laptop, go driving, and see plots of throttle position, air/fuel ratio, and fuel pressure, and save the files if you want to play with tuning. However, the car already has a dynotune, so there’s no tuning you really need to do.

I also have an electric cutout hooked up, so you can flip a switch on the console and drive through the neighborhood late without waking up everyone. Then at a stoplight you can flip the switch and its wide open. With the engine in this car and the aluminum flywheel that lets it rev fast, it sounds like something that has no business on the street.

Almost everything on it has less than 3000 miles worth of use. I’ve also only taken it to a track one time, and it was an 1/8th mile track so I don’t have a quarter mile time, but I do have a dyno chart, and it made 605 hp at the wheels with the old camshaft. I’ve put a more civilized cam in there since then, and it probably makes about 570 now, but it drives much better. The only thing to prevent being able to drive this car to work or any place you want any time is the stiff suspension which consists of adjustable shocks, eibach springs, and panhard bar, along with aftermarket rear struts. And you’d want to hook the heater core back up, which I have out right now.

The 11 psi is provided by a Vortech S-Trim with liquid intercooler. 8.75:1 compression ratio. The body could use some paint, and there’s some cosmetic stuff to do to the interior, but again, basically everything on the car is new. I got married last August, and I’m not twenty-five any more anyway, so I have enough other stuff to keep up with already. So I’m selling the beast.

In closing, everything is basically new and I would even think about making some kind of guarantee on the engine for the buyer in order to ease any concerns. It was built solid and built right.
