The fastest Lotus car in the world is the Lotus Exige with almost 700 hp. This car is just ridiculously fast. Can it be even faster than a Bugatti Veyron? Actually yes, it is even faster than a Bugatti Veyron. It is so fast that even cars like a Bugatti Veyron, or Hennessey Venom GT, or any other elite level supercar feels a little bit slow compared to this speed monster.
Now, don’t get a wrong impression about this car. When we mean it is faster than these supercars, we don’t have in mind that this car can reach a higher top speed than these supercars. It can’t reach a higher top speed than these supercars, but it can accelerate a lot faster than these supercars. It also feels a lot faster than these supercars. The owner of this car have said that this car was built for acceleration, not for top speed.
The Lotus Exige has a 1.8-liter twin-charged 4-cylinder engine that produces up to 680 hp (500 kW); giving it a better power-to-weight ratio than Mario Andretti’s Formula One Lotus. It also weighs only 2150 lbs (~975 kg) and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under 2 seconds. Even a 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse can do the same in little over 2 seconds.
This car is truly an amazing machine. No wonder why it is called the fastest Lotus car in the world. However, this beast machine had an accident in April 2012. The owner was driving on a highway, and a Porsche driver hit this Lotus car.
