Car of the day – 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse 1920×1080 HD

Engine: 8.0-liter quad turbocharged 64-valve DOHC W16 1200 hp (883 kW) and torque of 1106 lbs-ft from around 3000 rpm, maximum 6400 rpm. Top speed is 415 km/h (258 mph). Can reach from 0 to 100 km/h or ~0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h or ~0-120 mph in just 7 seconds range. Reaches 0-300 km/h or ~0-186 mph speed in just 16 seconds. A quarter-mile’s time is in just 10 seconds flat.

Obviously this new Veyron can’t reach a top speed of 460 km/h or 286 mph as a Super Sport model does. It is also slower by 0.1 seconds for reaching 0-100 km/h or ~0-60 mph speed, but sure this new model is one hot upcoming model. I don’t think you can feel any big differences in performance anyways, because it’s so close. Engineers have increased the size of the turbochargers and intercoolers to boost this engine’s power to 1200 hp, but because of that it takes longer to fill their lungs and that decreases this car’s performance. Delay between squeezing the gas and the turbos lighting up at 4000 rpm can be noticeable.

This car can empty its 26.4-gallon fuel tank in 10.3 minutes while driving at the top speed. Michelin tires also won’t last more than 15 minutes while driving above 250 mph (402 km/h), or at least there are no guarantees about that. 15.74-inch carbon-ceramic brakes can make this car stop from 400 km/h or 186 mph to 0 in just 7.9 seconds.

The steering of this Bugatti is light and weights up nicely as the angle increases. It’s not just a straight line drag car. Even knowing that this car isn’t that light, it can turn in corners pretty well.

A Seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is featured in this vehicle. Four-wheel drive system as in all Bugattis. Curb weight is 4387 lbs (1990 kg). Length is 175.7 inches (4463 mm), width is 78.7 inches (1999 mm), and height is 46.9 inches (1191 mm).

A total of 150 units will be produced of this Grand Sport model. Starting price is about 2,500,000 USD ($) ($2.5 million).
